According to Zelig Heller's Compestium of Strife, a masked challenger has shown up repeatedly throughout AA history demanding "satisfaction" with a black leather glove. Heller's account records several instances, notably those which occur during the so-called Associormation Period, defined by the author as that period of A.A. history which corresponds both with the destruction of Addisson's New York Office and with the corresponding formation of various antignomic groups.

He has been appearing since at least 1657.

Guvernor Morris developed a glove phobia after a masked challenger killed a family friend.

William Flintrock escaped a masked challenger's duel and chose his weapon, the arm-wrassel, which he won, hands down. The masked challenger was obviously impressed and retired honorably with a curt bow. This was in 1963.
