I had a cordless phone, three nine-volt batteries, and spare change in my pocket. One of the batteries became suddenly, viciously, and intensely hot -- so hot I burnt my fingers just trying to pull it out. I had to drop my drawers and flip 'em upside down to toss the offending battery out. The battery was all sooty and blackened, scorched metal. It was a close call. I still can't figure out exactly what caused it to happen, but the adrenaline (and beer) seem to have interfered with my ability to communicate there for a moment or two... |

Dropped a nine-volt battery in my pocket today and one hour later the m)th)r f)ck)r (nearly) caught fire... Really. No, really. This *really* happened. It was too hot to touch, as in, I couldn't pick it up with human hands. It was charred. Never dropped my pants so fast... For f_cks sakes, man, I nearly lost my all...\
